As Jim Hightower explains it, is that “the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans possess more net worth today than the bottom 90 percent of us combined. Worse, these privileged few and their political henchmen have structured a new economic ‘normal’ of long-term joblessness, low wages, no benefits or worker rights, miserly public services, and a steadily widening chasm between the rich and the rest of us.” We must restore sanity to this nation.

Michelle Bachmann Liar & Hypocrite - MAJOR

While Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., has forcefully denounced the Medicaid program for swelling the "welfare rolls," the mental health clinic run by her husband has been collecting annual Medicaid payments totaling over $137,000 for the treatment of patients since 2005...

THE RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR CAN JUST GET FUCKED...

Yesterday Ellen and I had to go to Tacoma in our 1990 Taurus wagon on a 'business trip'.  She had several hours of meetings, so I wandered around (which is my normal state of affairs).  Later while wandering around a bit, Ellen noticed this newspaper box-

Going away to where?  The money does not just miraculously cease to exist - no, in fact, it goes to SOMEONE ELSE.

These days, I suppose this is not unusual to see, if what I hear on the teevee and internets is true.  Wealthy people are doing very well indeed.  The numbers of poor and homeless people is growing at horrific rates.  Those, like us where, maybe one of us has medicare (which pays only 80%) and the other has no medical coverage at all are simply invisible.  You see it in your town, it is all over America and, in fact, all over the world.

Those who rely on the Wall Street fraud, the military murder machine (see Wall Street), or other ripoff industries are rolling in more money than they have ever seen.

The shopping malls were BOOMING, partly, I suppose, because Tacoma is a military town with Joint Base Lewis-McChord comprising 415,000 acres, and an on-base population of over 100,000.

To me, it is a horrible thing that military and secret wars, Wall Street fraud, giant corporations (oil company subsidies, anyone?), tax breaks for the extreme wealthy continue, or even EXIST at all .  We are witnessing the height of immorality as the poor, sick and old among us are swept aside so more MONEY can be shoveled off to these ultra wealthy people and undertakings.

Never mind all that!  This underwear sniffer Andrew Britebart has brought down another Democratic ally.  That's his JOB.  Whenever there is someone who is making a lot of NOISE for the progressive future of America, someone like Britebart cooks up some scam to take them out.

While the climate (IT'S WHERE WE LIVE, FOOLS!) continues to be a non-issue to most Americans, the right wing of America continues to talk money and power.

Please, oh PLEASE, won't someone buy this lovely home of ours here at the beach in Washington state so we can get OUT of this whore of a country?

In nearly EVERY OTHER MODERN COUNTRY, when you pay your taxes you get to see the firemen when your house catches fire, a doctor when not well or normal checkups, good roads to drive or bicycle on, etc.  WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS "GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE UNIVERSE"??

Better Late Than Never? Government Finally Penalizes Major Banks for Mortgage Mod Failures

On Thursday, the Treasury Department announced it would be withholding government subsidies to the country’s three largest mortgage servicers, which are also among the U.S.’s largest banks: Bank of AmericaWells Fargo, and JPMorgan Chase. The banks won’t be getting more money until they show “substantial improvement.”

SUBSIDIES?  THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS ARE GIVING MONETARY SUBSIDIES TO THE BIGGEST BANKS AS WELL AS THE BIGGEST OIL CO'S??

WTF, OVER?

BE SURE TO CLICK EACH BANK'S LINK ABOVE IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE, TO SEE HOW MUCH FUCKING MONEY WE HAVE/ARE GIVING THEM!  NO SHIT!  AND MEDICARE ONLY PAYS 80%  AND MEDICARE IS UNDER THE REPUBLICAN AXE!  PLEASE, SOMEONE, PLEASE, BUY OUR HOME SO WE CAN MOVE OUT OF THIS WHORE OF A COUNTRY.

A handful of rich, right-wing families and corporate chieftains are dedicated to returning America to the days when robber barons ruled.

The big lie

Something unconscionable is at work here, something that is shameful, unworthy of our people, and directly contradictory to our country's founding ideals. The richest, most powerful, most privileged people in our land--in cahoots with a horde of the least principled, most venal political opportunists in civic life-- are intentionally savaging the well-being of America's majority and aggressively suppressing the democratic rights that make America America. And for what? Solely for themselves, for the aggrandizement of their own wealth and power.
To pull off this grand political larceny, the narcissistic right has manufactured a huge lie that has largely been accepted as truth not only by the GOP and tea partiers, but also by the mass media, nearly all of the mainline pundit class, and too many fraidy-cat Democratic leaders, including the one in the oval office. The lie is that extreme budgetary measures (they call them "coura- geous") simply must be imposed now, this instant, in order to slay the looming deficit monster that is gorging itself on government spending at all levels.
"In the name of your grandbabies," they cry, "teachers must be fired, rights smothered, pensions abrogated, Medicare tossed aside, little kids cut off from Head Start, and the bright promise of America's shared prosperity dimmed. We have no choice but to slash and burn."
No choice? One hedge fund hustler pocketed $2.4 million last year. Not for the year--$2.4 million AN HOUR. Yet he and his ilk pay a much lower tax rate than you and I do. In recent years, huge corporations like GE, ExxonMobil, and Bank of America have pocketed billions of dollars in profit, yet paid not a dime in federal income taxes. Indeed, far from paying taxes, these three have even been handed millions of dollars in "refunds" from our public treasury in some of their profitable years. Sliding through loopholes created by their lobbyists, two-thirds of corporations in the US pay no income taxes to help cover the priceless benefits they get from our national government.
America does not face a deficit crisis--we face a multi-billion dollar annual tax dodge by the most elite of moneyed elites. The money our society needs is right there--in the coffers of flagrantly rich Fortune 500 corporations and Wall Street banks, in the personal accounts of absurdly wealthy CEOs and fast-buck speculators. America is hardly a poor country. It's the richest in the history of the world, and it ought to have the very best public education program in the world, the most advanced infrastructure network, and the finest system of health care for all.
Yet our 'leaders' only talk of what they can't do, of what must be cut, of how the middle class and the poor must sacrifice, of how Americans must adapt to the new normal of diminished expectations and shriveled democratic power. The ugly truth is that these despicable governors and lawmakers are willingly trashing teachers and butchering our public budgets simply to spare the privileged and plutocratic few from paying what they owe to sustain a just, democratic, and truly prosperous society. This is ridiculous. Let's tax the super-rich! We the People must join together, stand up, push back, and shift the focus in this fight from hardworking teachers to these disgusting deadbeats and their political puppets.

While we have been frantically playing defense against relentless assaults on multiple fronts, from anti-union legislation to draconian anti-choice laws to the attempted privatization of Medicare, the selling off of public assets to the private sector has received little attention.

According to McClatchy, the White House claims it would see savings of as much as $15 billion by no longer having to maintain or pay for utilities at some of the underused or unused facilities.  The government in 2009 reported spending $134 million to maintain buildings that have been declared excess.  It costs an estimated $1.3 billion a year to maintain federal buildings that aren't yet declared surplus but that go underused.  However, it remains unclear if and how this strategy would result in a significant enough amount of savings to make a dent in a trillion dollar deficit.
