"...get rid of those folks who are in fact wasteful..." Newt Gingrich (OF ALL FUCKING PEOPLE!)
As Jim Hightower explains it, is that “the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans possess more net worth today than the bottom 90 percent of us combined. Worse, these privileged few and their political henchmen have structured a new economic ‘normal’ of long-term joblessness, low wages, no benefits or worker rights, miserly public services, and a steadily widening chasm between the rich and the rest of us.” We must restore sanity to this nation.

MY question for us Americans is "where are OUR balls?" When will WE hit the streets?
How LONG are we going to stand for the criminal banking wall street elite thievery? They have stolen HOW MANY peoples' homes? Ruined the value of HOW MANY homes? STOLEN how many retirements?
AMERICA, I AM ASHAMED OF US AFTER SEEING THE BRAVE SOULS ON THE STREETS IN NORTH AFRICA!
Fix the broken gun laws - keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people
The recent shootings in Tucson have once again exposed flaws in
America’s efforts to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, drug
abusers, the mentally ill and other dangerous people.
I am joining more than 550 U.S. Mayors in calling on Congress to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people by taking two critical steps:
1. Get all the names of people who should be prohibited from buying guns into the background check system.
2. Require a background check for/before every gun sale in America.

Every day in America, 34 people are murdered with guns. We can't accept
the flaws in our background check system that lead to these tragic
deaths.

When I got out of the service in '69, all I wanted was a panel truck with a stove and a bed in it...
This photo of me at the rear of my old 1949 Dodge panel truck recently
surfaced after many many years of obscurity! Amazing that I didn't burn
myself to death in this rig, but OH MY WHAT TIMES!
I saw part of the interview with big Dick Cheeney on MSNBC this morning
and had to immediately write them a note telling what I thought:
Re: your interview with Dick Cheeney.
Why in the WORLD would an otherwise credible news outfit interview a war criminal without asking about his war crimes?
What makes MSNBC (NBC?) think that we watchers don't KNOW that Cheeney LIED AND LIED and caused HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of unnecessary deaths, unmeasurable horror, and the thievery of billions of Americas dollars?
I am a 64 year old veteran, and I KNOW about this man's past, even if television "news" does not.
It is so disappointing that the Obama justice department can not find a way to indict and prosecute these war criminals living the high life of retirement on American soil.

What Does WikiLeaks Have on Bank of America?
Mary Bottari, Campaign for America's Future: "WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is promising to unleash a cache of secret documents from the hard drive of a U.S. megabank executive.... Before the big banks start calling for Assange's internment at Guantanamo, the question worth considering is what does Wikileaks have on America's largest bank?... Legal liability for toxic mortgages; reckless and illegal foreclosures; countrywide headaches [and] taxpayer paid bonuses."

"The Federal Reserve was set up by bankers, for bankers, and it has served them well. Out of the blue, the Fed came up with $12.3 trillion in nearly interest-free credit to bail the banks out of a credit crunch they created...

"We have no expectation or intention to get involved in state and local finance," he said in testimony before the Senate Budget Committee. The states "should not expect loans from the Fed..."

Corporate Junk Economics Comes to Capitol Hill
Now we know who will have influence in the 112th Congress. Rep. Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House oversight committee, reportedly asked more than 150 trade associations, corporations and think tanks to provide a wish list of health, environmental and other public protections that they would like to see eliminated. But if Issa truly wants to focus on job preservation and growth, we’ve got other ideas for him.

Drug Industry Is Biggest Defrauder of Federal Government
Step aside, defense industry; there’s a new defrauder in town. Pharmaceutical companies have accounted for more payouts under the False Claims Act than any other industry. Drug companies have deliberately overcharged for medications and sold drugs for unapproved uses. In the past 20 years, Big Pharma has paid $19.8 billion in financial penalties. Spoiler alert: 75 percent has been paid out in the past five years alone.

Obama Should Read WikiLeaks Documents
Ray McGovern, Consortium News: "Perhaps President Barack Obama should
give himself a waiver on the ban prohibiting U.S. government employees
from downloading classified cables released by WikiLeaks, so he can
better understand the futility of his Afghan War strategy. For instance,
if Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has hidden from him Ambassador
Karl Eikenberry's cables from Kabul, he might wish to search out KABUL
001892 of July 13, 2009, in which Eikenberry reports that Afghan
President Hamid Karzai is 'unable to grasp the most rudimentary
principles of state building.'"

Congressional teapublicans are saying "the average American pays $10,000 a year in taxes. Listen folks, that is pure, simple, unvarnished bullshit:
TAXES ARE SO DOWN TWICE DURING THE VILLAGE IDIOT'S REIGN, SO THEY ARE WHINING BECAUSE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO BORROW MONEY TO GIVE MORE TAX CUTS TO WEALTHY AMERICANS...THEIR SCAM IS TO BANKRUPT AMERICA (STARTING WITH THE STATES) SO THEY AND THEIR RICH FRIENDS CAN HAVE ANY/ALL THEY WANT...REPUBLICANS ARE BALD-FACED LIARS AND NASTY ASSHOLES.
It is really simple to see through these tax cutting assholes: They pick and choose sentences and subjects from programs they dislike (seems to be especially science they dislike), then they set about scaring the beejeezus out of their infortunate followers. These followers (I dare say, including those sent to Washington DC by the tea party) seem unable or unwilling to use simple search engines and information on the internet.
They even INSISTED on borrowing money from China, Iran, Saudi in order to give their mentors, the million/billionaires more tax breaks.
Please understand, I am not saying that some republicans are assholes. I am saying that ALL REPUBLICANS ARE ASSHOLES. Republicans are not welcome on my property, nor will I spend any time in conversation with them when it turns to de-regulation, tax cutting, or any other of their tea party, ronald raygun, noot ginger-rich, voodoo economics ideas. Fuck 'em. Every last goddamned swingin' dick one of them!

US at War Since 1950: A New Year's Meditation
Michael True, Truthout:
"At the beginning of the new year, consequences of 'life at war' stare us in the face: the victimization of military and civilian populations and a huge national debt, including an annual military budget that is larger than all military budgets in the world combined and includes $5 billion that remains unaccounted for in Iraq, as well as aid to Pakistan that has wound up in the hands of the Taliban.... Any responsible citizen acknowledges this painful history in the hope of redirecting US foreign policy in the future. The purpose of reclaiming it is not to open old wounds, but to encourage legislative and direct action committed to peacemaking. It is a call to critique the policies and competence of the Pentagon, the CIA, and the national security apparatus responsible for these disasters."

2011 Looks Grim for Progress on Women's Rights in Iraq
Shashank Bengali and Sahar Issa, McClatchy Newspapers:

Could US Foreign Policy in the Middle East Be Worse? Yes
Stephen Zunes, Truthout:
"The Democrats could have taken advantage of their control of both Congress and the White House to support moderate Palestinians and moderate Israelis in their quest for peace. Instead, Pelosi and other Congressional leaders, without any apparent opposition from the Obama White House, have been committed to rewarding right-wing militarists like Netanyahu, while punishing moderates Abbas and Fayyad.
