new truck WHAT? new/used truck...

I have been using the old '90 Ranger 4x4 for everything from hauling scrap metal into the city (Portland) to bringing in compost and wood chips for our gardens.

So I decided that before I head out to tow a two axle 17 foot trailer loaded to the gunwales with scrap iron AND  a truckload of aluminum and other non-ferrous metal, perhaps a new truck was in order.   I shopped all over Craigslist for several weeks and settled on a '79  GMC 1 ton flatbed with a Goodwrench crate engine and turbo 400 automatic transmission.  I will put new wheel bearings, axle seals, this and that into it and it will be a real work horse:

SWEET, EH?

As Jim Hightower explains it, is that “the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans possess more net worth today than the bottom 90 percent of us combined. Worse, these privileged few and their political henchmen have structured a new economic ‘normal’ of long-term joblessness, low wages, no benefits or worker rights, miserly public services, and a steadily widening chasm between the rich and the rest of us.” We must restore sanity to this nation.
