LEARN FROM THE PAST OR FOREVER REPEAT IT. DEAR BARAK OBAMA: PLEASE REMEMBER THIS (AMONG OTHERS) FROM THE 2004 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN:

''I look forward to that debate, when John Kerry, a war hero with a chest full of medals, is standing next to George Bush, a man who was AWOL''

AND YET THE DLC HAND PICKED CANDIDATE MANAGED TO CHOKE AND WHIMPER...

And he hardly denounced that ridiculous swift boat commercial. And he didn't say one goddamn thing about Ohio and all its voting irregularities. And somehow Dan Rather loses his job because Bush was an AWOL pussy rich kid while men were dying in Vietnam. And now we have Hillary who is better friends with McCain than Obama. I personally have almost no hope for the Party. The only bit left rests with Obama.

But otherwise, I would love to hear more about your Coast Guard experience. I understand the Port of Portland is the second largest oil port on the east coast.

Well Blues, (I am a blues music fan, are you?), I was pretty young when stationed in Portland, Maine. The ship I was on (Coast Guard Cutter Acushnet) did ice berg patrol, search and rescue. The Acushnet was an old vessle THEN. Still in service (repowered about 15 years ago) in Kodiak Alaska. When in port, I spent a lot of time sitting in coffee shops listening to The Mamas and The Papas on jukebox, eating English muffins with butter and jam. Smoked pot the first time in a pool hall down under the sidewalk, got laid and the clap in Portland. Too many firsts! Transferred from there to the Umatilla lightship off the Washington coast. I have JILLIONS of sea stories.

As Jim Hightower explains it, is that “the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans possess more net worth today than the bottom 90 percent of us combined. Worse, these privileged few and their political henchmen have structured a new economic ‘normal’ of long-term joblessness, low wages, no benefits or worker rights, miserly public services, and a steadily widening chasm between the rich and the rest of us.” We must restore sanity to this nation.
