MAYBE WE COULD GET WHOEVER "LOST" THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS MISSING IN IRAQ, TO PAY IT BACK, WE COULD FIX SOME OF THIS INFRASTRUCTURE? MAYBE IF THE OBCENELY WEALTHY PEOPLE WHO BUSH HAS GIVEN OUR TAX MONEY TO COULD DIVERT A FEW SMALL BOXES OF $20'S NOW AND THEN....

FROM USPIRG COMES THIS:
"Last week's bridge collapse in Minnesota was horrific and the images I saw on the news will probably haunt me forever.

The aftermath has been equally as disturbing as reports have shown that inspectors repeatedly raised concerns about the safety of the bridge dating all the way back to 1996.

There seems to be very little funding going towards fixing our decaying roads and bridges yet new roads are being built all the time. Urge the Chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Rep. James Oberstar, to introduce "Fix It First" policy to ensure that other bridges and roads across the country, in a similar state of disrepair, don't suffer the same fate.

As Jim Hightower explains it, is that “the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans possess more net worth today than the bottom 90 percent of us combined. Worse, these privileged few and their political henchmen have structured a new economic ‘normal’ of long-term joblessness, low wages, no benefits or worker rights, miserly public services, and a steadily widening chasm between the rich and the rest of us.” We must restore sanity to this nation.
