Coast Guard's Deepwater program blasted

The endless war on terra is about making profit from war. I am a Coast Guard vet (6 years), and this tears me. FOR PROFIT, these and other large cutters were taken to a shipyard and "rebuilt" to such shoddy standards that they are actually breaking up when put to use. There is so much criminality in this program, and so much waste, that it could ONLY be done under the present "administration". MORE

I hate to say it, but the Deepwater project started long before the current administration.

See http://www.uscg.mil/deepwater/program/history.htm

Not that I'm endorsing the contracting initiatives of the current administration, but, sadly, this isn't one we can blame on this Bush.

I know deepwater started some time before Bush, Peter. The BUSINESS CLIMATE in the Bush years is what is to blame for this waste of OUR MONEY, and very nearly the waste of real lives, all at the altar of profit. When are we going to LEARN that there is more to life than huge piles of money? To our probable demise as a species on this planet, probably NEVER.

As Jim Hightower explains it, is that “the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans possess more net worth today than the bottom 90 percent of us combined. Worse, these privileged few and their political henchmen have structured a new economic ‘normal’ of long-term joblessness, low wages, no benefits or worker rights, miserly public services, and a steadily widening chasm between the rich and the rest of us.” We must restore sanity to this nation.
